Black Agenda Radio – 02.2.17

Welcome, to the radio magazine that brings you news, commentary and analysis from a Black Left perspective. I’m Glen Ford, along with my co-host, Nellie Bailey. Coming up: the MOVE organization will hold a three day event to dispel confusion about why the Philadelphia police killed 11 of their members, burned out a whole city block, and put nine MOVE people in prison for life, in the 1970s and 80s; and, an advocate for the people of the Congo says it may be a good thing that Donald Trump doesn’t yet have a policy on Africa.

Deirdre Fulton – In Show of Internal Dissent, Federal Workers Rising Up Against Trump

From the 1,000 State Department officials rushing to sign an official dissent cable, to the 180 federal workers signing up for a workshop on civil disobedience, to the dozens of “rogue” agency Twitter accounts that have sprouted up in the last week, internal resistance to the right-wing Trump agenda is rivaling the power of people on the streets—perhaps not in …

Jon Queally – Entire Senior Staff at Trump’s State Dept. ‘Unexpectedly’ Resigns

Update: Despite some initial speculation that their ‘unexpected’ and ‘abrupt’ departures were possibly an expression of protest by employees who did not want to work for the State Department under President Trump, later reporting on Wednesday indicates the mass exodus was triggered, according to department officials, by the new administration “cleaning house” and telling the top-level managers their services were …

The Trump-Pence administration’s war on facts may have galvanized the next major demonstration in the nation’s capital—the Scientists’ March on Washington, which is as yet unscheduled but is garnering significant enthusiasm online. Dr. Mark Schoen, a sex educator and a filmmaker, returned to the program. His website www.SexSmartFilms.com is Netflix of sex education – and a sex educator’s dream come true! Under the Education category on the site is Disability. Dr. Mark has paired with Dr. Mitch Tepper to make the next documentary: “Making Love after War,” and the pilot can be viewed on SSF. We hear the story of Aaron and Kat, but these kinds of stories are heard over and over – according to the filmmaker. So much more needs to be done to help vets deal with injuries affecting their sexuality. Dr. Schoen and Dr. Tepper are helping this cause by making this film. They both will be on the program as they get closer to the conclusion. Tune in for a preview!

Nick Turse – Tomgram: Nick Turse, Special Ops, Shadow Wars, and the Golden Age of the Gray Zone
