The July 3rd Edition of Warrior Connection was a continuation of our discussion with Dr. Bob Shaw. We discussed dealing with daily and never ending VA failures that cause physiological and psychological harm INSTEAD OF HELPING, coming home, the healing effects and pain generated by The WALL, making choices, thriving through education, and the role of forgiveness. Denise gave a brief update on DC actions, events and her meeting with Va’s Dr Clancy.
The May 29th edition of Warrior Connection was a discussion on treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with Dr Ashjok Tuteja of Salt Lake City VA and University of Nevada at Salt Lake using probiotics. The May 1 edition of Warrior Connection was a discussion with the widow of a warrior who comitted suicide revealing the problems they faced as they were abandoned by the military and the VA leading up to her husbands suicide and the resulting lingering problems the widow and her children face. This extraordinary brave widow offers insight and suggestions on how to prevent another tragedy and how to cope after suicide of a loved one affected by war.
We continued with our ongoing discussion on ways for solving the ptsd and suicide crises. the following pts brochure (it is attached- please post- distribute) and a focus on a higher calling such as described in “MY QUILT” ” from an unknown author can help. We all need to make the choice to move forward and grow based on the trauma we experienced. As discussed during this weeks program we can all excel and survive but it requires effort, dedication, and acceptance of help.
During May 10 warrior Connection Denise and Doug discussed last weeks Va research Advisory board meeting and round table discussion with a bunch of vets, hot line investigation under U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (DC 202 224-5274 or Miami 305-536-5999) , and DoD admission hot line for chemical exposures. ODS, OIF OEF OND VETS SHOULD CALL ARMY HOT LINE AT 800 497 6261 if they think they were exposed to ensure medical care and notify their va or civilian primary care physician.
Why are so many of our young Military personnel so messed up?
Many people think that Wounded Warriors are mainly comprised of those who have gone overseas to defend our Country. That is true to a great extent, but many of those who have not been deployed are also showing symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress.
