The last couple of weeks there was a lot of conversation online, in Washington and by the media about what is more important to many Americans – aborted babies or hunted lions.
The release of video showing Planned Parenthood doctors and staff discussing aborted babies whose body parts are being provided to research organizations (for payment) outraged many and spurred some legislators to call for an ending of taxpayer funding of the non-abortion services provided by the organization. Planned Parenthood quickly responded with a high dollar television media campaign blitz to ‘win the hearts and minds’ of Americans.
Just as this story was peaking, every news station and show for days covered the tragic story of Cecil, a ‘much beloved’ lion in Africa who was killed by an American big game hunter. Both of these stories are pretty horrible. In the priority setting vein of thought, two things have happened during this same time frame in which comparisons are warranted.
