John Barry is a NY Times best-selling writer whose books have won literally dozens of awards. He is the only non-scientist ever to win one particular honor from the National Academy of Sciences, and in 2005 the New York Public Library named his book Rising Tide one of the 50 best books of the preceding 50 years.
