Dr. Jill Stein is the 2016 presidential candidate for the Green Party and a strong advocate for greater third party representation in election campaigns and debates. Dr Stein is a medical physician of internal medicine and a pioneer in advocating environmental health issues in Massachusetts. During her presidential run in 2012, she received enough votes making her the most successful woman presidential candidate in US history. Dr. Stein is a Harvard magna cum laude and received her doctorate from Harvard Medical School. Over the years she has been active in Massachusetts campaigns to better protect women and children from toxic pollution that has been associated with earning disabilities. She is also on the national board of directors of the organization Physicians for Social Responsibility favoring a national universal healthcare program and has won awards for her public health efforts in clean water policies and children’s health. Part I: D. Anthony Evans, Train 2 Live
D. Anthony Evans knows what it takes to face down life’s biggest challenges and beat them. A child of a single mom, he was born with Neurofibromatosis (NF) a rare genetic condition where dangerous tumors grow on nerve tissue. Often benign, they can become malignant, resulting in Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumors (MPNST), an aggressive form of cancer. In 2012, D. was diagnosed with MPNST. Nine life-or-death surgeries risking paralysis within eleven months followed as doctors removed 325 tumors, one of them over two pounds. D. was given six months to live. Survival rates are low, but there are those who survive. It has been over four years.

Garth Davis, M.D., is the medical director of the Davis Clinic at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, and starred on the hit TLC show Big Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Recently named a “Super Doc” by Texas Monthly, he has been featured in The Houston Chronicle and other outlets. Garth lives in Houston with his family. In episode 91 David Crowe interviews Alan Cassels, a Canadian drug policy researcher at the University of Victoria, who has authored several books, and many papers and also television documentaries. He is very interested in the promotion of drugs, particularly what he calls Selling Sickness or Disease Mongering, which happens when a drug companies, and people influenced by them, create a new illness, or promote greater ‘awareness’ of a minor condition, by exaggerating its impact, and the effectiveness of the drugs that you’re likely to be prescribed if you “see your doctor” as illness advertisements always tell you to do.

While not perfect, it is not so influenced by the pharmaceutical industry, and therefore produces relatively unbiased recommendations.
