A conversation on Immigration, Covid-19 , Election 2020 and Homelessness, hosted by Ugoji Eze
Monday October 26th
The COVID 19 pandemic has brought enormous challenges to the global health , social, political and economic systems and indeed will have immediate consequences on the attainment of numerous Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) .
The COVID 19 global pandemic is having a tremendous impact on the U.S. immigration system. In an attempt to appease its supporters ahead of the 2020 election, the Trump Administration has signed a series of Executive Orders placing additional restrictions on immigration to the United States .
The COVID-19 crisis presents the international community with an opportunity to rethink human mobility for the benefit of all and to recover better through socio-economic inclusion of people on the move, utilizing their skills and positive contributions to societies .
The leading questions are :
-
Is responding to the spread of COVID-19 and protecting the fundamental human rights of people on the move mutually exclusive ?
-
How far can we say that no one is safe until everyone is safe and are people on the move part of the solution
Join us for a discussion on immigration, COVID- 19 , Election 2020 and Homelessness .
This virtual discussion will provide an opportunity to exchange views on the implications for the 2020 Election , Refugees and migrants during and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis .
