Her specialties are global public health policy and management, and international political economy, with an emphasis on behavioral health in women and universal human rights. Roger Newcomb is a producer and writer in New York City. He moved to Silicon Valley after college and began a successful career working as a Project Manager for Fortune 500 companies Sun Microsystems and Oracle. He later moved to New York City and in 2007 launched We Love Soaps, a blog dedicated to championing serialized entertainment.   In 2009 a companion web series, We Love Soaps TV, premiered, featuring celebrity guests such as Susan Lucci, Olivia Newton-John, Anthony Geary and Kim Zimmer.

Newcomb has written and produced a full-length indie film, Manhattanites, and two radio soap operas. He founded and produces annually the Indie Series Awards, which celebrated its fifth year in 2014 with a move from New York to Los Angeles Recent film appearances include the documentary Soap Life–ruminating alongside Agnes Nixon and Eileen Fulton–and James Franco’s indie feature, Francophrenia.

He’s currently working as a Public Relations Specialist for non-profit Bronx Community Health Network by name, and producing a TV pilot, We Be Nurses, on evenings and weekends.

Bronx Reach Champs Announces: 5 Saturday events in Five Bronx Parks with Kathryn Davis (Qigong meditation) and N’Namdi Nelson (physical fitness) are the instructors.

10 AM: QIGONG MEDITATION with Kathryn Davis. Qigong Meditation is a fun and easy mind-body practice that helps to reduce accumulated stress at the same time that it helps to build physical energy and vitality. The sessions are guided so it is easy to follow along. The practice includes breathing and visualization techniques in combination with the meditation practice, which can be done while sitting, standing or moving. The moving meditations are slow graceful movements that resembles Tai-Chi.

Kathryn Davis is a teacher of meditation, movement and relaxation techniques, a Spiritual Doula and Energy Healing Practitioner. She is certified as a Qigong teacher and in Qigong healing techniques from OCOM, the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, is a practitioner of Reiki, spiritually guided life force energy and The Sandlin Technique, a form of Indigenous energy/body work based on Vision Quest and Shamanic Insight. Kathryn is a host and producer of Health Action and Heart Of Mind, heard over WBAI Pacifica Radio, 99.5 FM and the Progressive Radio Network,PRN.LIVE.

11:30 AM PHYSICAL FITNESS CLASS with N’Namdi Nelson. The Physical Fitness Class will include a combination of strength and aerobics activity.

N’Namdi Nelson began his career with an internship at Lee Taft Sports Academy more than a decade ago. Following LTSA he worked at Velocity sports performance as a sports performance coach. During his time there he became a senior sports performance coach and the interim director of sports performance before moving on to Fordham Prep High school. At Fordham Prep he was the head strength & conditioning coach before resigning in 2014 to finish his M.B.A. During his time at Fordham he also was the assistant manager to a private gym on the upper west-side of NYC. N’Namdi’s specialty is weight management and sports performance/athlete development which he works with clients of all ages. He also attends seminars/conferences to stay updated in the latest training methodologies. “Nothing motivates me more than seeing my clients reach their goals/and or full athletic potential”
