The Natural Nurse®, Dr. Ellen Kamhi brings the message of alternative, holistic medicine to millions of Americans through radio and television programs broadcast throughout the United States. She appears on News 12 Long Island, and is featured in numerous magazines, journals, and newspapers including The New York Times, New York Post and Marie Claire. Through Natural Alternatives, an education and media production company, she creates and runs popular workshops on the use of local wild plants, herbal medicine, homeopathic remedies, foods and energy techniques used to improve the quality of life and health.

Dr. Kamhi has been involved in the field of natural medicine for over 30 years. She attended Rutgers and Cornell Universities, sat on the Panel of Traditional Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical School, and is an appointed Clinical Instructor at Stony Brook Medical School College of Family Medicine. She practices holistic medicine at Long Island Integrated Medical Center, Ronkonkoma, NY.

Dr. Kamhi’s extensive experience in natural medicine and herbology is combined with a doctorate in public health and conventional degrees in nursing and education. She is one of a small group of Westerners to complete a two-year apprenticeship to a prominent “brujo” or midwife, in Mexico, with whom she studied indigenous herbs of the southwestern desert and their healing power. Dr. Kamhi created a program for a southwestern college on desert ecology and the therapeutic uses of indigenous plants. A respected authority in the field of natural healing, Dr. Kamhi is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild (AHG). She is nationally board certified as a holistic nurse (HNC). She is also certified in Reflexology, Bach Flower Remedies, Herbology, Darkfield Microscopy and Indigenous Medicines. Her work in the “new physics” and the mind-body connection has established Dr. Kamhi as an authority of Bioenergetic Medicine and Complementary Medicine. Her research and studies have taken her around the world in pursuit of ancient healing knowledge. She works to bring together a body of modern and ancient medical practices and philosophies that use less invasive, less toxic, natural techniques to enhance wellness and increase the public’s awareness of how to reach optimum health.
