Leid Stories—The Obama-Trump Cause and Effect—03.16.17
With the spotlight shining bright—and not in a good way—on President Donald Trump and the missteps of his embattled administration, the misdeeds and shortfalls President Barack Obama and his administration seem to have been put in the ash can of history, as though they have nothing to do with the severity of domestic and foreign policies Trump espouses and is seeking to enact.
Today we explore the question: In what ways did Obama and his administration trigger the backlash we see now in Trump and the rise of his so-called “populist” agenda?
Alternative Visions – Deconstructing the Republican House/Paul Ryan Obamacare Repeal Bill – 03.10.17
Jack Rasmus dissects the Republican/Ryan proposal of this past week to repeal and replace the Obamacare Act. The proposal is first and foremost a $500 billion a year tax cut for corporations and the wealthiest 1%, as they no longer have to contribute anything to the plan. Other provisions of the proposals are described, including the freeze and dismantling of the Medicaid elements, the end of all mandates, the sliding scale of in come for credits, etc. This is a tax cut bill and a further privatization bill, and should be viewed as the first of a sequence of medical related bills that will make everyone ‘pay more for less’. Next target: Medicare. Rasmus reviews the plusses and minuses of the Obama ACA, and why it was doomed from the start due to inability to control health cost increases. The show concludes with an analysis of the origins of escalating health costs since the 1990s, which have their roots in health insurance companies’ and drug companies’ drive to buy out competitors and Wall St.’s penetration of these companies to require more profitability in exchange for loans to buy up their competitors. The trend for a quarter century has been increasing privatization and rationing of health care costs and services. And it’s about to become worse. (Next week: The Federal Reserve’s next interest rate hike next week and its impact)

Solartopia Green Power and Wellness Hour – 12.10.15
PLANNED PARENTHOOD UNDER ATTACK!!!! We hear all about it from KATHY KNEER, head of California’s powerful Planned Parenthood organization, which runs more than 100 women’s health clinics throughout the nation’s largest state.
Kathy dissects for us the vicious attack being waged on womens’ medical services by right-wing fanatics. With control of both houses of Congress, the Republicans have finally passed anti-female legislation that goes far beyond abortion, denying women access to contraception and basic health care.
Kathy also tells us about the vile, cynical use of crudely distorted videos that undercut Planned Parenthood’s sterling reputation with the goal of ending this long-standing organization’s ability to provide basic services to women.
SHEILA PARKS also joins us for a discussion of the impact of electronically stolen elections on the future of women’s health care.
If you are at all concerned about health services for our nation’s females, do not miss this show.
