Tristram Stuart is an international award-winning author, speaker, campaigner, and expert on the environmental and social impacts of food production. His books, The Bloodless Revolution (2006) and Waste: Uncovering the Global Food Scandal (2009), have been described as “a genuinely revelatory contribution to this history of human ideas” (Daily Telegraph) and his TED talk has been watched over a million times. The environmental campaigning organization he founded, Feedback (www.feedbackglobal.org), has spread its work into dozens of countries worldwide, working with governments, international institutions, businesses, non-governmental organizations, grassroots organizations and the public to change society’s attitude toward wasting food. Its campaigns and events include Feeding the 5000, a free public feast using food that would otherwise be wasted; the Pig Idea, which seeks to change laws that restrict food waste being used to feed pigs; and, the Gleaning Network of volunteers that harvest surplus produce that would be left to rot and redistributes to UK charities. Tristram was the winner of the international environmental award, The Sophie Prize, in 2011. He is an Ashoka Fellow, a National Geographic Emerging Explorer, a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and, most recently, a Champion 12.3 for the UN Sustainable Development Goal of halving food waste and reducing food loss globally by 2030.

Solartopia celebrates the amazing life & unmatched activism of the legendary MICHAEL MARIOTTE, a truly one-of-a-kind No Nukes activist, pamphleteer, researcher and strategist who recently passed away from pancreatic cancer.

Michael’s legendary career as a nuke-buster, grassroots organizer, writer, speaker, rock drummer and husband/parent/friend has inspired a whole generation. For decades he has been at the core of fighting the nuke industry in general, with particularly powerful impact at Calvert Cliffs in Maryland, the uranium project in Louisiana he helped defeat, and much much more.

Our tributes begin with MARY OLSON from the NUCLEAR INFORMATION & RESOURCE SERVICE, which Michael has helped lead since the 1980s. PAUL GUNTER then joins us, along with KEVIN KAMPS, both from BEYOND NUCLEAR.

ALFRED MEYER chimes in from PHYSICIANS FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY along with BOB BACKUS from the Seabrook fight, ROCHELLE BECKER from Diablo Canyon, TIM JUDSON (the new Executive Director of NIRS), DIANE D’ARRIGO of NIRS, ALLISON FISHER from PUBLIC CITIZEN, attorney DIANE CURREN, Michael’s band-mate and more.

For those of us who knew him, the hole Michael leaves in our movement and in our hearts will be impossible to fill.

There are few greater things one can do to further our power and wellness than what Michael accomplished in his lifetime.

Thank you, brother. We hope you enjoy the show….

Gail Scott, a certified Coach and speaker (www.GailScottInc.com) returned to the program. Her father molestation created much trauma, setting her on a journey for sexual healing. Important steps involved learning about Tantric sexuality – exploring the body as a sacred temple, and doing more for herself (speaking up, slowing down) as she has continued to heal. Dr. Diana and Gail discussed how sex is the life energy that flows through the body and its energy centers (chakras) – heart, head, pelvis and so on. Partners can learn to channel this energy and ride it to maximum pleasure! This is an inspiring conversation. Tune in to learn more!
