Around the globe, 1 in 4 cities face water stress, which means there’s an inability to meet human and ecological demands for water. Unlike water scarcity, which defines a lack of available water supply, water stress may also encompass lack of water due to problems with water quality, water accessibility and more.1 In a nutshell, only about 3 percent of …
NDC Savings Club – Toxic Water – 09.28.16
We live in a toxic world where exposure on a daily basis to toxic contaminants in our air and water affects our health on a cumulative basis. For decades toxic waste sites and industries have discharged chemicals and heavy metals that have seeped into our drinking water supplies. Additionally, agricultural runoff of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizer, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies dumping drugs into the ground have contributed to hundreds of toxic contaminants permeating our drinking water supply.

Levels of a widely used class of industrial chemicals linked with liver toxicity, developmental problems, tumour growth and hormonal disruptions exceed federally recommended safety levels in public drinking-water supplies for 33 states in the U.S. according to a new study led by researchers at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). The chemical contaminants that …

Dirty Water, Dirty Politics: An Update on the Crisis in Flint
Hell in Haiti: Hillary Clinton’s Other Presidential Election
In August 2014, Curt Guyette, an investigative reporter for the ACLU of Michigan, told Leid Stories that tens of thousands of residents of the cash-strapped city of Flint, Michigan, were being exposed to lead-poisoned and bacteria-infected water because the city, under state-imposed emergency management and ordered to cut operating costs, had switched its water supply from Detroit’s water system and instead was drawing its water from the extremely polluted Flint River. Guyette uncovered not only the public-health catastrophe, but efforts by public and elected officials to cover it up. He updates the story since his report a week ago.
Hillary Clinton is actually involved in two presidential elections—one in the United States and the other in Haiti, where her hand-picked president, Michel Martelly, is at the center of political chaos and escalating violence that last week led the country’s electoral council to cancel national elections. Kim Ives, editor of Haïti Liberté, has been reporting on Haiti for Leid Stories. He files an on-site report on the current situation, and explains the continuing legacy of the Clinton connection to Haiti’s chaos.
Fearless Parent Radio – Is Fluoride Safe? – 01.20.16
Water fluoridation is the controlled addition of fluoride to a public water supply to control tooth decay. The CDC says that the safety and benefits of fluoride are well-documented. It’s also in our toothpaste. Dentists promote it. Maybe you took fluoride pills when you were a child or you give fluoride in vitamin drops to your baby. We’ve been fluoridating our water for over 70 years; so long, in fact, that few people question its wisdom.
But there is much more to the story. The Fluoride Action Network shares some surprising facts, including:
97% of Western Europe does does not fluoridate its water
Fluoridated countries do not have less tooth decay than non-fluoridated countries
40% of teens show visible effects of fluoride over-exposure (36 studies show a correlation between fluoride and lower IQ)
Did you know that the fluoride that is put in our water is a toxic byproduct of the fertilizer and aluminum industries?
The dominant paradigm used to be, “The solution to pollution is dilution.” Now we are discovering that many toxins accumulate in our bodies and our environment.
Could many chronic diseases of modernity be linked to water fluoridation?
